A message from our visionary leader.

When I first thought of Unity MUN, it wasn’t just about hosting another MUN. It came from noticing how many MUNs were drifting away from their true purpose. Somewhere along the way, agencies took over, shifting the focus to certificates, quick profits, and prestige instead of real learning.

I’ve seen students walk into their first MUN full of curiosity and excitement, only to walk away feeling intimidating or closed off. I’ve also met students who believed international MUNs were only for the privileged few with access to money or networks, which broke my heart because that was never the true meaning of MUN. It was about diplomacy, collaboration, problem-solving, and the confidence that comes from knowing your voice matters.

That’s why Unity MUN was born, as a solution. We made it accessible and affordable, with advanced training sessions, recordings for self-paced learning, and a special committee for first-timers so no one feels left behind. Today, more than 300 students from 12 countries are part of this growing community that values diversity and meaningful debate.

Yes. MUN certificates hold value as they showcase your skills in research, public speaking, negotiation, and leadership. They are well-recognized by schools, universities, and sometimes even by employers, especially when backed by active participation and achievements.

Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are academic simulations of the United Nations where students, called delegates, represent countries or public figures to debate, negotiate, and solve global issues.

Committees are the specialized groups within an MUN, such as the UNHRC, AIPPM, or DISEC. Each focuses on a particular set of topics, ranging from human rights to political debates, giving delegates a chance to engage with specific global or national issues.

Delegates research their assigned role, prepare position papers, and participate in debates and negotiations during committee sessions. The aim is to collaborate, draft resolutions, and reach solutions, much like real-world diplomacy.

MUN stands for Model United Nations, an educational platform where students simulate UN proceedings to learn about international relations, diplomacy, and leadership.

The highest honor at most MUNs is Best Delegate, followed by High Commendation and Special Mention. Some conferences also include verbal mentions or certificates of participation.

Delegates are expected to wear Western formal attire, such as suits, blazers, or formal dresses. Dressing professionally reflects the spirit of diplomacy and seriousness of the conference.

The first MUN conference was held in 1949 at Harvard University, making it a tradition with over 70 years of history.

MUN as an academic simulation was pioneered by Harvard University, inspired by earlier simulations of the League of Nations in the 1920s.
